John Purcell spent 14 years as a software developer and contractor for over 14 years. After working for a bunch of companies, including Proquest and AT&T, he decided to work full-time as a private software trainer. This led him to Udemy, a platform where anyone can upload and sell video courses.
In his first year and a half he made $80,000. His courses on Java and C++ are among the most popular courses on the site, with nearly half a million students. His course “Java Tutorial for Complete Beginners” has over 350,000 students from around the world. John has taken his experience and now teaches others how to make a living creating tutorial videos. Whether the topic is English, computer programing, the humanities, or a highly specialized technical skill, he shows that creating your own online business is easier than you think.
